17' Lyman Outboard - Minor Restoration

The 17' Lyman outboard came into our shop because the owner had noticed the deck was getting soft near the deck-covering board joint. A full deck replacement was too costly a repair, so he elected to have us remove and replace the damaged sections of the deck, concealing the new seams under the windshield as much as possible. After removing the damaged deck sections, we discovered that the rubrail was rotting in places as well, so we removed a section of the rubrail, and scarfed in a new piece of oak. We installed the new mahogany deck repairs, matched the stain, then finished the entire topsides with two fresh coats of varnish.
